Student writers

Nora, Elliot & Grace tell us all about the Fix It letters the students in Mrs. Kohnhorst's class wrote.

Did you know that we made signs to solve problems in the world? We saw problems around our school and we figured out how to think about ideas to make it better. We made problem books with Fix It letters. Some of the problems we tried to fix were about littering, running in school, putting pencils in the wrong bins, running in parking lots, putting food on the floor in the cafeteria, and running in hallways. We think that our letters helped people learn because some people have been doing what we said.  We see kids making better choices now! You should try your own Fix It idea.  You just need to pay attention to problems, think of a way to solve them and write a book or letter about them. I hope you liked learning about all of our Fix It ideas to make the Earth better.

Example letters below:

Dear Meadowbrook students,

You should stop running to breakfast because you could get hurt. When you open the door you could smack somebody in the face right behind you.

From,

Ellie

Dear people,

Please stop littering everywhere on the Earth.  You should put your litter in a garbage can instead of on the ground.  People do not like litter because it makes Earth turn badish. Please stop littering on the ground.

From,

Nora

Dear Meadowbrook students,

You should not put sharp pencils in the dull pencil bucket.  That way your teacher will see it and ask you, "Did you put your pencil in there?" Please take the sharp pencil back and keep on using it.  Then we won't waste Mrs. Kohnhorst's time sharpening the sharp pencils.

From,

Grace
